"Virgin" actor Malil charged in stabbing

LOS ANGELES � A veteran worker best known for his performance in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" was charged with attempted murder Tuesday after police aforementioned he stabbed his sometime girlfriend more than 20 times.



Shelley Malil, 43, of Los Angeles, was detained Monday nighttime as exited an Amtrak train in Oceanside, 35 miles second Earl of Guilford of San Diego, where he traveled to converge with his attorney before surrendering to police, according to a statement from Lt. Phil Brust of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.



Malil, who remained in custody in lieu of $2 million bail, was charged with attempted murder with special fate of forethought, causing great bodily injury and using a virulent weapon, aforesaid Deputy District Attorney Steven Carver.



Malil was to be arraigned today in Vista, north of San Diego, said Paul Levikow, a spokesman for the San Diego County District Attorney's office.



He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted on all counts.



Brust's statement aforementioned: "Malil and the victim had ostensibly been in a dating relationship which recently ended."



Police were summoned to an inland San Diego County residence when neighbors reported hearing glass breaking and a cleaning lady screaming.



Authorities identified the victim as Kendra Beebe. According to her Facebook thomas Nelson Page, she is a 35-year-old mother of two wHO works as an insurance broker in Carlsbad, a suburb.



She was listed in critical condition Monday, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department, which had no update on her condition Tuesday.



Authorities said deuce children, ages 2 and 4, were found sleeping in the home.



Malil's lawyer declined to comment.



Malil played Haziz, one of star Steve Carell's co-workers at an electronics store in the "The 40-Year-Old-Virgin," and appeared on dozens of TV shows, including "NYPD Blue" and "Scrubs."
